London’s Chelsea in Bloom floral art show returns for its 21st anniversary, lining the streets and storefronts with displays made with vibrant flowers. This year, over 145 businesses in the district expand their horizons as they present sculptures and arrangements following this year’s theme, “Out of this World.” While every corner of the neighborhood is bursting with stellar creativity, these 7 standout installations are a must-visit.
1. Ricky Paul’s King’s Road Globe
Bringing this year’s Out of This World theme right back down to Earth, this floral globe honors broadcaster and natural historian Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday earlier this month. Positioned along King’s Road, the enormous globe wrapped with lilies, delphiniums, and dense exotic greenery serves as the centerpiece among a jungle of floral wildlife sculptures, including gorillas, elephants, jaguars, polar bears, parrots, flamingos, and more.
Created by Ricky Paul Flowers, the display cleverly flips the cosmic theme on its head. Rather than asking viewers to look outward toward distant galaxies, it serves as a reminder that the most surreal and breathtaking wonder in the universe is the one we already inhabit.
2. FARM Rio’s Parrot Forest Portal
Tropical maximalism takes over London as FARM Rio bypasses the city’s signature gray gloom in favor of the lush Brazilian rainforest. Framing the storefront are two oversized, floral parrots exploding with saturated colors against the London backdrop. Modeled after a print from the brand’s Summer collection, the love birds form a vivid floral wormhole, transporting guests into the heart of the Amazon.
Created by Amarante London — who contributed a staggering 21 installations to this year’s Chelsea in Bloom — the display perfectly captures the festival’s ability to turn entire storefronts into temporary fantasy worlds.
3. Chelsea Market’s Doctor Who TARDIS
British sci-fi, but make it fashion. You can’t do an intergalactic theme in London without acknowledging the ultimate blue box. Parked outside Chelsea Market, this floral recreation of the TARDIS door sits as though materialized through a wormhole of delphiniums and deep blue blooms, perfectly blending sci-fi nostalgia with high-end floral artistry.
4. Sloane Square Zodiacs
A walk through the constellations. Sloane Square has been taken over by giant celestial symbols and zodiac constellations surrounded by thousands of white, silver, and midnight-blue blossoms. A casual stroll through your astrological chart that’s both ancient and futuristic.
5. Oliver Peoples’ Stylish Medusa
Mythological drama meets cosmic luxury. Oliver Peoples trades sci-fi tropes for ancient mythology with a celestial twist. Medusa: The Gaze reimagines the Greek Gorgon as an otherworldly guardian of the storefront — a colossal floral bust sporting sunglasses and crowned with venomous serpents woven from greenery, mosses, and jewel-toned blooms.
Another one created by Amarante London, the piece was built from scratch using different floral techniques to give each snake its own texture and personality.
6. Peter Jones’ Flower Moon
Yet another display by Amarante London, anchor tenant Peter Jones turns its façade into a celestial dreamscape inspired by the 1902 film, A Trip to the Moon. The installation presents a giant palm sculpture cradling May’s Flower Moon made with pearlescent fungi, ivory succulents, and greenery.
It sits among a silvery garden dotted with oversized stars, and flowers selected specifically for their close relationship with the moon — primrose opens as the dusk, tuberose and gardenia deepen their scent after dark, and silver foliage reflects the moonlight.
7. The Ivy Chelsea Garden’s
The Ivy Chelsea Garden takes us on an intergalactic journey with their maximalist display, complete with astronaut, chrome alien visitor, moon, floral yellow Saturn, and a custom ice cream observatory. Created by PHOHM, it celebrates creativity and escapism, merging the campy charm of space exploration with upscale hospitality design.
