A 72-hour flash. From May 22 to 24, Givenchy is taking over Shanghai’s weekend mornings — and its nightlife — stamping its iconic serif logo onto standard-issue jianbing paper bags and soy milk cups.
Trading baguettes for youtiaos, the French heritage house has teamed up with local neighborhood spots across Xuhui, Jing’an, and Huangpu to launch “Givenchy Breakfast.” On the menu? Soft egg crêpes, xiaolongbao, soy milk, and the quintessential Shanghainese “Four Heavenly Kings” breakfast combo. The campaign plays on one of Givenchy’s most historic fashion moments — Audrey Hepburn’s little black dress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s — but reinterprets it for the modern Chinese street corner.
This transient takeover plays with the rising trend of hyper-local luxury, where brands shift away from exclusive runway shows and embed themselves directly into the flow of daily life. By colliding haute couture with neighborhood comfort foods, luxury fashion houses like Givenchy are bypassing conventional marketing to buy something much harder to acquire: instant street credibility with the younger lifestyle-driven generation.
A Treasure Hunt Across Shanghai
Scattered around Shanghai’s urban Puxi core, the campaign manifests as a treasure hunt across the Xuhui, Jing’an, and Huangpu districts. Givenchy has partitioned its takeover into four distinct local joints, assigning a unique culinary specialty to each outpost. The map captures the full spectrum of the city’s daily grind: moving from the classic morning ruan dan bing (soft egg crêpe) grabbed on a neighborhood stroll, to a hangover-curing breakfast combo served directly on a dimly lit club floor in the dead of night.
Each partnering venue features a bold, minimalist placard, detailing a custom menu tied together under a shared header:

The Classic Morning
The soft egg crêpe (ruan dan bing) is an unpretentious staple of Shanghai’s street-side morning routine. By stamping its logo onto this everyday comfort food, Givenchy skips the high-concept culinary twists and completely embraces the authentic simplicity of the local Chinese breakfast.

The Upgraded Jianbing
Jianbing, the ultimate Chinese street food, is a savory crêpe cooked on a flat griddle, layered with egg, scallions, a swipe of sweet bean sauce, and a crunchy cracker wrap. By stepping into DOU Coffee, Givenchy embraces this popular breakfast item, swapping sterile luxury packaging for greaseproof paper stamped with haute couture typography.

The Soup Dumpling Stop
As Shanghai’s most famous culinary export, the xiaolongbao (soup dumpling) is a testament to the city’s delicate precision, wrapping piping-hot broth and tender meat inside a translucent, pleated dough skin. By centering a menu around these bite-sized soup dumplings, Givenchy aligns its own heritage of meticulous craftsmanship with a centuries-old art form, turning a casual morning bite into a high-low cultural crossover.

The 3 AM Hangover Cure
For the late-night crowd at Aby’ss, Givenchy pulls off its most brilliant marketing pivot by transforming traditional breakfast into a 3 AM hangover cure. Instead of post-club pizza or burgers, they served up Shanghai’s iconic “Four Heavenly Kings” (Si Da Jin Gang) — a heavy and comforting combo of sesame pancakes, fried dough sticks, sticky rice rolls, and warm soy milk. It is a genius subversion of luxury hospitality, treating exhausted clubbers to the ultimate midnight lifeline right on the dimly lit dance floor.
